Niagara Falls NY – New Fire Engine – Firehouse 3 (11th & Ontario)
The Niagara Falls Fire Department officially put its newest fire engine into service with a small ceremony outside Fire House 3 located at 11th and Ontario Avenue.
The new Engine 3, a 2019 Rosenbauer pumper, will primarily serve the city’s north end. Prior to any dispute over casino revenue, the Niagara Falls City Council approved funding in 2016 for a new engine.
Niagara Falls Fire Chief Joe Pedulla says the process of buying a new truck or engine is long and not cheap. It’s takes about 18 months from start to finish. This new engine came at a price tag of about $435,000.
The old Engine 3 first went into service in March 2005 and has answered over 22,000 calls. However, this isn’t the end for it. It will serve as a reserve engine for the city.
Shortly after the ceremony, the new Engine 3 responded to its first call. It was a medical call.
